EVOLUTION  V CREATION

Evolution V Creation at St James Church 21st April 2012.

Picture
Where did the Universe come from? How was it created? Will it be there forever?

How do we fit into the great scheme of things?

What is life?

These are questions that are asked by everyone at some point in their life. But what is the answer?

On Saturday 21st April 2012, we will be hosting a one day event here at St James Church, on Evolution v Creation addressing these questions. The event will start at 09:30am and finish at 5pm here in St James’ Church. This will be the first such event of its kind in any church in the West Midlands, and invitations have been sent out to the Bishops of Ebbsfleet, Lichfield and Wolverhampton. We hope they will be free to attend on that day.

I feel sure the event will be very lively, as this topic has been down the ages. In parts of the USA, it is still against the law even nowadays to preach on the subject of Evolution. The controversy between the Evolutionists and Creationists has reigned for centuries, and although we are not bold enough to suppose that we will have all the answers on 21st April, to such profound questions as ‘do we really know how the Universe was created?’ and ‘can evolution explain everything?’, I’m sure it will be a very interesting day with both camps learning from each other-which after all is what healthy debate is all about. To my mind at least, Science and Religion are not at loggerheads. God, the Creator surely made all the laws underlying the structure of our Universe, and how it has unfolded. But that is my view-and others may disagree-so why not come along on 21st April, and hear the arguments for and against Evolution v Creation, and join in the debate.

The morning will comprise short talks on the origin and fate of our Universe (Dr Gill Pearce), Genesis (Fr Anthony Moore) and Evolution (Graham Worton, Dudley Museum). The afternoon will comprise discussion and debate in parallel groups lead by Gill, Graham, Fr Anthony, Fr Kevin, and Rev Bob Morris. We hope to have a raffle-and will be raffling off (amongst other things) two dinosaurs from the Natural history museum in London!!!!     The course is designed for the general public, and we would very much like to see you and welcome you here in St James’ on 21st April 2012, dabbling in Dinosaurs and pondering the mysteries of the Universe in which live.      Gill Pearce.
